Pattern of BPSC Prelims Examination
One General Studies Paper, 150 questions with 150 marks
Syllabus:
(1) Current Affairs of national and international importance
(2) General Geography of India and Bihar
(3) History of India and Bihar
(4) Indian Polity and Economy (including Bihar)
(5) Indian National Movement
(7) Basic Mathematics
Pattern of BPSC Mains Examination
There are five papers:
(1) Hindi (Maximum Marks –100)
(2) General Studies Paper – 1 (Maximum Marks –200)
(3) General Studies Paper – 2 (Maximum Marks –200)
(4) Paper 1 of First Optional Paper (Maximum Marks –200)
(5) Paper 2 of First Optional Paper (Maximum Marks –200)
(5) Paper 1 of Second Optional Paper (Maximum Marks –200)
(7) Paper 2 of Second Optional Paper (Maximum Marks –200)
(6) Interview (Maximum Marks –150)
(1) First Paper Hindi is only required to be passled with minimum 30 marks and its marks will not be added to the total marks.
Essay (Nibandh) : 30 marks
Grammar (Vyakaran): 30 marks
Sentence arrangement (Vakya Vinyas): 25 marks
Precis (Sakshepan): 15 marks
(2) There are three sections in GS Paper – 1 and total 8 out of 12 questions need to be answered.
Syllabus for GS Paper 1:
Section 1 (Modern History Of India and Indian Culture): Three out of four questions need to be answered.
Section 2 (Current Event of National and International Importance): Three out of four questions need to be answered.
Section 3 (Statical Analysis, Graphs and Diagrams): Two out of four questions need to be answered.
(3) There are three sections in GS Paper – 1 and total 8 out of 12 questions need to be answered.
Syllabus for GS Paper 2:
Section 1 (Indian Polity ): Three out of four questions need to be answered.
Section 2 (Current Event of National and International Importance): Three out of four questions need to be answered.
Section 3 (Indian Economy and Geography): Two out of four questions need to be answered.
(4), (5), (6) & (7) Two Papers will be for optional subjects. These can be choosen from the following list:

(6) Interview marks will be of 150.
Final marks are the sum of Main paper (Witten Paper) marks and Interview marks. Based on these marks, merit list is prepared.
